Pam Ketzner of Whole Washington provides a WA legislative update on healthcare bills, in particular SB 5947 establishing a universal healthcare “trigger” pending federal action. She encourages us all to email our senators and representatives to support this bill. We also discuss Joseph Jarvis’ book The Purple World: Healing the Harm in American Health Care and the Utah Cares movement to bring universal healthcare to Utah. See the ballot initiative Whole Washington is planning if the legislature does not bring the healthcare bill forward.

They also discuss Cal Portland’s proposal to drain the Vashon aquifer for a gravel pit which would dry up Sequalitchew Creek in Dupont and affect fresh drinking water in the area.
