On Christmas Eve 2020, Tacoma Housing Now and Tacoma Food Not Bombs paid for 16 motel rooms for houseless people. After 5 deaths due to exposure, they felt that direct action was needed to be taken to protect our unhoused citizens. Regrettably, the city and county authorities did not step up to continue funding the shelter but for a few days, people had a warm, safe place to sleep; hot showers and sanitation; and a chance to tell their stories. This is a recording of the Christmas 2020 rally held in the Travelodge parking lot.
